Creating a Caring Environment |

| We recognize that the overall comfort and security
of our residents depends on our ability to create an environment that is conducive to
caring. That's why our resident accommodations are comfortable and attractive and
why our staff is committed to providing personal and compassionate care. We believe
our residents respond better in such a caring environment. Amenities Meeting our residents' expectations also means balancing their needs for privacy within socialization opportunities. Each resident is provided with a private closet and nightstand to keep clothes and personal items. Private telephone, television and other amenities can be easily arranged. We also encourage residents to customize their rooms with special personal items from home. Some of the amenities available to our residents include:
Social Activities Socialization activities abound at our center. Whether it means receiving family and friends who visit, enjoying the pleasant companionship of others in the dining room, or participating in one of our many leisure, learning, recreation or entertainment activities, the options are unlimited. When balanced with periods of restful quiet, these structured daily activities can be therapeutic as well as engaging for our residents with physical and psychological challenges. Some of our activities include:
Dietary Services Residents are served three well-balanced, nutritious meals and we offer an alternate choice of food for each meal. We have registered dietitians available to accommodate any special diet needs and provide physician-ordered therapeutic diets. Snacks are offered daily for those who enjoy eating "between meals." There is a "special meal" served each month. The menu is determined by members of the food committee, which consists of both residents and dietary personnel. This gives our residents the opportunity to offer their input for menu planning. Our dietary department was recently awarded a 4-star rating for service and food quality excellence by the Extendicare corporate quality review team. With the Family in Mind We believe that together we can make a difference in the care of our family members and friends living in long term care facilities. The national Family Council of Extendicare Health Services, Inc. encourages family involvement through participation in family councils. We believe a positive and constructive approach produces many valuable results. The primary goal of The National Family Council is to establish constructive family councils in each Extendicare health facility. There are a number of positive opportunities for family councils. Family councils can provide support programs for family members, assist in volunteer activities, share information about the residents and patients, and coordinate advocacy activities. Family councils help achieve the results we all want: quality of life and care in health facilities, comfort to families, and fair public policy at the national and state levels. We invite you to join a family council. |
